Anthropologist Dennis Etler hosts this catalog of human fossil remains found in China. Dozens of images are shown and interpreted to show early examples of Homo Erectus and some distant cousins. Along with maps and a timeline, Dr. Etler lists the major finds of this century, from "Peking Man" (now dubbed "Skull III") to recent finds in the Zhoukoudian province. Scholarly articles and notes accompany the galleries, with much of the text demanding at least a working knowledge of the arguments within the fields of archaeology, anthropology and paleontology. Carnegie Paleontologist Chris Beard's article provides some background into the search for fossils in China, and is recommended for those who see only pictures of old skullcaps and jawbones.
