The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Thessaloniki was founded in 1918. It is the second largest chamber of Greece and, from its foundation up to the present day, its contribution to the development of the country has been, and is, of considerable importance. The CCI participates in the administration of development and finance organisations of the country. It also plays an active role in the administration of the Greek Section of the International Chamber of Commerce and the Union of Chambers of Harbours of the Mediterranean (ASCAME), and is an active member of Eurochambers too. The CCI has fourteen thousand active members, whose dynamic business presence has gained for the greater Thessaloniki area approximately 50% of Greek exports.
