Deep Space 1, the first of NASA's
New Millennium Program missions,
will test 12 advanced technologies and instruments in space on a "test
track" that will take it by an asteroid, Ma rs, and a comet. Deep Space
1's flight testing of new technologies will pioneer the way for future
spacecraft and missions to have an arsenal of revolutionary technical capabilities
for exploring the universe. The flight will be carried out jointly by t
he Jet Propulsion Laboratory of
the California Institute of Technology
in Pasadena, CA, and Spectrum
Astro, Inc. of Gi lbert, AZ. |
