Frida Kahlo

Frida Kahlo was an artist, who was born in Mexico on July 6, 1907. She achieved fame in her own lifetime. She died on July 13, 1954.

Frida's art was influenced greatly by the pain she suffered throughout her lifetime. She contracted polio at age six, and was a victim of a bus accident in her teens.

Besides the paintings depicting her feelings of pain, and fears of death, Frida painted numerous self-portraits. Many of these images overdramatize her eyebrows and mustache. She represented her pain by adding such things as thorn necklaces, and nails to her portraits.
