Blue Jays Unveil Their New Look The Toronto Blue Jays have unveiled a new look as they enter the next 20 years... The new Blue Jays look includes a completely redesigned club logo, new club lettering as well as new uniforms and caps. The logo features a more prominant Maple Leaf in the background and a sleek new Blue Jay. The makeover was released at a press conference in Downtown Toronto. Pat Hentgen has been selected by the Baseball Writers of America as the 1996 American League Cy Young Award Winner, with 16 out of a possible 28 first place votes. Pat had a spectacular season finishing 20-10 and a 3.22 ERA, second only to Juan Guzman in the AL. The other major contender, New York Yankee Andy Pettitte, received 6 first place votes. He becomes the first Blue Jay to win the coveted pitching title. Nine Player Deal With Pirates The Toronto Blue Jays have acquired infielder Carlos Garcia, outfielder Orlando Merced, and left-hand pitcher Dan Plesac from the Pittsburgh Pirates in exchange for right-hand pitchers Jose Silva and Jose Pett, infielder Brandon Cromer and three players to be named later.
