Northrop Grumman Corporation, headquartered
in Los Angeles, Calif., is a leading designer, systems integrator and manufacturer
of military surveillance and combat aircraft, defense electronics and systems,
airspace management and information systems, marine propulsion, precision
weapons and commercial and military aerostructures.
Northrop Grumman was formed in 1994 when Northrop Corporation acquired
Grumman Corporation. Also in 1994, the company completed the acquisition
of Vought Aircraft, a major producer of military and commercial aerostructures.
Northrop Grumman acquired the defense and electronics systems business
of Westinghouse Electric Corporation in 1996. The company employs more
than 47,000 people.
Northrop Grumman reported 1995 sales of $6.8 billion.
The company is organized into five divisions: Electronic
Sensors and Systems Division, Baltimore, Md.; Electronics
and Systems Integration Division, Bethpage, N.Y.; Military
Aircraft Systems Division, El Segundo, Calif.; Commercial
Aircraft Division, Dallas, Tex., and Data
Systems and Services Division, Herndon, Va. Another major Northrop
Grumman organization is the Advanced
Technology and Development Center, based in Pico Rivera, Calif.
